Dr. La Shaun Daniels-Edney is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Consultant for Simply Redefining Wellness and Counseling. With over a decade of experience in social work, she specializes in a faith-based integrative approach to therapy, combining mental health and spirituality. La Shaun is dedicated to serving and empowering black and brown communities in New Jersey, particularly those facing vulnerability, oppression, and poverty.

 

Currently, La Shaun works as a child study team social worker for an urban school district, focusing on students with disabilities. She is an active member of D.I.V.A. Wives, a Christian-based group, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, where she contributes to community service initiatives. Additionally, she serves on the Juvenile Conference Committee, making decisions related to juvenile offenders.

La Shaun's therapeutic approach emphasizes cultural sensitivity, providing a safe and non-judgmental space for women of color. She supports clients dealing with various challenges such as trauma, loss, grief, depression, postpartum issues, and other mental health struggles. La Shaun utilizes an eclectic therapeutic approach tailored to meet each client's unique needs.

 

La Shaun holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with minors in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Montclair State University. She earned her Master of Social Work from Fordham University and successfully defended her dissertation at Regent University earning her Ph.D. in Counseling and Psychological Studies.

ZuShanna Turner, MHC- LP  Associate Therapist | New York

ZuShanna Turner is a Clinical Graduate Associate, Educator, and Maternal Health Advocate. She has a heart for young adults,  teens, mothers, and women. Her mission is to not just support or encourage her clients but impact their lives far beyond the therapy room. 

ZuShanna uses a Christian faith-based integrative and culturally sensitive approach to meet the needs of all her clients. She believes that every individual possesses the strength and potential to work through life problems and that most issues are developmentally and environmentally based. She seeks to help her clients discover their potential and learn skills and strategies that will help them heal, achieve their goals and gain mental, emotional, and spiritual balance.

 

ZuShanna received her Master of Arts in Education and a Master of Science in Education in Counseling.  She also holds a provisional license as a School Counselor. Currently, ZuShanna is a post-master student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling  Certificate program at Alfred University and currently practices under the supervision and leadership of Janelle Thompson. 

 

When ZuShanna is not working with clients or tending to her family of 5, she enjoys working out, hanging with friends, trying new foods, and traveling with her family.

Carlene Charlemagne is a passionate Marriage and Family Therapist and Life Coach who helps people break free from limitations and embrace a transformation that brings joy, fulfillment, and abundance to every area of their life. She knows firsthand what it's like to feel unfulfilled and depressed and turned to prayer, counsel, and meditation to find joy and purpose.

 

Carlene believes that everyone has someone to help, guide, and connect them in areas that require transformation. She helps individuals align the pillars of their life—spiritually, physically, emotionally, relationally, and financially—to experience harmony and success. She's seen the incredible transformation that occurs when people understand their seasons, take necessary actions, and connect with their purpose.

 

Carlene uses a systems-based approach to asses clients' areas of growth and build on their strengths. Working together, Carlene and her clients uncover the different seasons of life, empowering them to transform their pillars of happiness. As individuals embrace their authentic selves and gain clarity on who they want to become, the begin to experience a fulfilling and peaceful life. 

Carlene received her Master's of Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University and a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Sydney Burney is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in both New York and New Jersey.  She has worked with populations ranging from children to older adults.  Her personal experiences, education, training, and passion in the field led to her attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with certification in Early Childhood Development and then a Master of Science Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy.

For the last decade, Sydney has gained increased knowledge in working with individuals, families, couples, the LGBTQ population, and domestic violence survivors.  In working with these populations, she assisted them with navigating through trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions, parental challenges, PTSD, and loss/grief.  Her theoretical orientation in utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, positive affirmations, prayer, persistence, and poetry has assisted her in working effectively with clients.  These tools help create an open mind of reframing negative thoughts and actions into positive ones. 

Sydney aims to become an integral part of clients’ support system on their journeys of accomplishing goals, working through difficult times, and offering hope for them to reach their greatest potential!

Shyian is a Clinical Graduate Intern, educator, and youth advocate Shyian Biggs cares deeply about adolescents, college students, and young adults. Her goal is to change her clients' lives far beyond the confines of the therapy room, not only to support and encourage them.

 

Shyian caters to the needs of each and every one of her clients using a comprehensive and culturally sensitive approach. She thinks that everyone has the capacity and strength to overcome obstacles in life, and that most problems have developmental and environmental origins. She aims to assist her clients in realizing their potential and acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to recover, accomplish their objectives, and achieve psychological, emotional, and religious goals.

 

Shyian received her Master of Science in Education in Counseling  She also has a school counselor's provisional license. Shyian practices under the direction and supervision of Janelle Thompson while she is a postmaster student at Alfred University's Clinical Mental Health Counseling Certificate program.

 

When Shyian is not helping clients, she likes to work out, spend time with friends, try new foods, travel, and engage in spa-related activities.

Karizzma Hamilton is a Clinical Graduate Intern, Youth Leader, and Resident Wellness Coordinator. She has a heart for young people and advocates strongly for active communication, self-efficacy, agency, mindfulness, and boundary-setting.

 

Her personal mission is to never stop learning, growing, living intentionally, empowering, encouraging, serving, and inspiring growth in anyone that she encounters. She desires to spark positive change and provide resources to help develop self-actualized future leaders and dreamers, equipping them to navigate the world through their unique lenses.

 

Karizzma received her Master of Science in Education, and she holds an initial certification for School Counseling. Currently, Karizzma is a post-master student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Advanced Certificate program at Alfred University and currently practices under the supervision and leadership of Janelle Thompson. 

 

Karizzma uses a Christian faith-based, trauma-informed, integrative approach to meet the needs of all her clients. She believes that mental health is health and that every client is born with everything they need to succeed on the inside of them, they just need the proper resources and environment to help cultivate those things.

 

When Karizzma is not working with clients, serving at her local church, or braiding hair, she enjoys playing video games, hanging with friends, and traveling.
