Frequently Asked Questions

1 / Do both partners need to attend every session?

In most cases, yes — couples therapy is most effective when both partners are present. Carlene may occasionally recommend individual sessions as part of the process, and will discuss this with you directly

2 / Is couples therapy covered by insurance?

Coverage for couples therapy varies by plan. SRWC accepts Aetna and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield for individual services. We recommend contacting your provider directly to verify couples therapy benefits before your first session.

3 / How long does couples therapy take?

There's no one-size-fits-all answer. Some couples see meaningful progress in 8–12 sessions. Others benefit from longer-term work. Carlene will work with you to set realistic goals and revisit them as you progress.

4 / Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. SRWC is a hybrid practice, and Carlene offers telehealth sessions for New Jersey residents in addition to in-person options.
