Bariatric Coaching & Emotional Eating Support
You Had the Surgery. So Why Does the Struggle Still Feel the Same?
You made one of the hardest decisions of your life. You did the research. You prepared. You had the surgery.
And yet — here you are. Still reaching for food when you're stressed. Still fighting the same mental patterns. Still wondering why the number on the scale isn't telling the whole story.
You are not failing. You are experiencing what nobody warned you about: surgery changes your body, but it doesn't automatically change your mind.
"The real work begins after the procedure. The work of unlearning. The work of rebuilding your relationship with food. The work of challenging the patterns and emotions that once felt familiar and safe."
That truth — the one most people don't say out loud — is exactly why this coaching program exists.

Meet Your Coach
"I know what it feels like to struggle with weight for most of your life. I know what it means to make the decision to change — and then face the reality that surgery alone doesn't teach you how to sustain that change."
Dr. Lashun Daniel Edney is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 20 years of experience as a clinician, clinical supervisor, parent coach, and psychotherapist. More than that — she is a woman who has walked this journey herself.
Over a decade ago, Dr. Edney was exactly where you may be now. She chose surgery. She faced the recovery. And then she encountered the harder truth: the work of sustaining lasting change requires something surgery cannot provide — real, ongoing emotional and behavioral support.
That experience shaped everything. She committed her doctoral studies to the bariatric community, developing evidence-based tools and programs specifically designed to help people like her clients — people like you — change mind, body, and spirit for the long term.
Her approach is clinical. It is personal. It is honest. And it meets you exactly where you are.

Why Coaching Matters
Surgery Transforms the Body. Coaching Transforms the Relationship With It.
Research is clear: long-term bariatric success depends as much on behavioral and emotional factors as on the procedure itself. When the emotional relationship with food goes unaddressed, familiar patterns return — and with them, weight regain, frustration, and shame.
This is not a character flaw. It is a gap in support. And it is exactly what bariatric coaching is designed to fill.
Coaching through Simply Redefining Wellness helps you:
-
Identify the emotional triggers that drive eating — and build new responses
-
Replace old coping patterns with strategies that actually sustain you
-
Build a nourishing, non-punishing relationship with food
-
Develop accountability and momentum that outlast motivation
-
Reduce the risk of weight regain by addressing root causes, not symptoms
-
Feel supported, seen, and understood — not shamed or rushed
Whether you are preparing for surgery or rebuilding after it, this work meets you where you are — and takes you where you want to go.

Frequently Asked Questions
1 / Do I need to have had bariatric surgery to work with Dr. Edney?
No. The programs are designed for individuals at any stage — whether you're preparing for surgery, recently post-op, or years out and struggling to sustain your results. The emotional work is relevant regardless of where you are in the journey.
2 / What's the difference between The Metamorphosis Experience and the 8-Week Coaching Plan?
The Metamorphosis Experience goes deeper — it addresses the emotional root causes of eating behavior, including trauma, stress patterns, and the psychological relationship with food. The 8-Week Coaching Plan focuses on habit formation, lifestyle adjustment, and accountability without the emotional eating treatment component. If you're unsure which is right for you, start with a discovery call.
3 / Is this therapy or coaching?
These are coaching programs, not clinical therapy. Dr. Edney brings her clinical expertise and doctoral-level training to the work, but the programs are structured as coaching — focused on behavioral change, accountability, and emotional support rather than mental health treatment. If clinical therapy is what you need, we can discuss referral options.
4 / Is faith integration required?
Not at all. Faith integration is completely optional and always led by you. If you'd like spiritual principles woven into the work, Dr. Edney can do that. If you prefer a secular approach, that's equally available.
5 / Is this available outside the US?
Yes — all programs are delivered 100% virtually and are available to clients anywhere in the world.
